News from Trinity HOPE

This is one of a series of articles which we make available each month to keep our supporters informed about our activities. Trinity HOPE, a not-for-profit charitable organization, raises funds and administers feeding programs that provide a noon meal for the hungry children who attend our schools in Haiti where the Good News of Jesus is shared daily.

“Migration Creates Growth Opportunities”

By Keith Logan

While Trinity HOPE continues to provide over 62,000 meals each day to children in Christian schools throughout Haiti, more than 250+ gangs continue to fight for power and control of land in and around the capital city of Port au Prince. These horrific battles are between Haitian police, international forces from Kenya, and rival gangs. The result is that over 1,000,000 people have now had to flee their homes and migrate to more rural areas throughout the small country. This migration, as well as a general fear of parents allowing their children to walk to school, has caused school attendance to decrease in the majority of schools.

Although there is a chance the attendance at these schools will rebound in the future and return to previous levels, we clearly recognize that the children are desperate for the food we provide right now. For this reason, we have redirected some of the funds previously allocated for these existing schools to add new Trinity HOPE feeding programs to an additional 18 Christian schools. These 18 new programs are in the more rural areas of Haiti, where those migrating from Port au Prince are moving into. With these additions, Trinity HOPE is now providing a nutritious noon meal to 281 Christian schools, where the children are being fed both physically and spiritually every school day.

We give God thanks for the blessing of protection and provisions He continues to pour over Trinity HOPE. While many non-profits are forced to pull out of Haiti due to current conditions, God continues to provide ways for us to reach His children with a life-sustaining meal and the Good News of Jesus Christ. We also give God tremendous thanks for you, our dedicated supporters in prayer and funding. You are a living example of Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:35, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Thank you for the continued trust and confidence you place in Trinity HOPE, as we serve God and His children together.
